Shoulder Pain
Shoulder injuries are frequently caused by athletic activities that involve excessive, repetitive, overhead motion, such as swimming, tennis, pitching, and weightlifting. Injuries can also occur during everyday activities such washing walls, hanging curtains, and gardening.

If you are experiencing shoulder pain, ask yourself these questions:
  • Is your shoulder stiff?
  • Is your shoulder weak?
  • Was there a mechanism to your shoulder pain? (Did you fall or reach awkwardly)

If the answer is 'yes' to these questions, you should consult an injury specialist to determine the severity of the problem. Most problems in the shoulder involve the muscles, ligaments, and tendons, rather than the bones. Athletes are especially susceptible to shoulder problems. In athletes, shoulder problems can develop slowly through repetitive, intensive training routines.

Some patients have the tendency to ignore pain and 'play through' shoulder pain, which usually only aggravates the condition and causes more problems. Common shoulder injuries include:
  • Shoulder Impingement
  • Rotator Cuff Strains
  • Shoulder Instability
  • Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis)
  • Labrum Tears

Evaluation is very important to provide accurate diagnosis and patient-specific rehab exercises. Please give our office a call if you are experiencing shoulder pain!
